It offers a powerful 38-115mm zoom lens with Super Spectra lens coating, so you can bring your subjects up to three times closer at the touch of a button. This camera uses fully automatic focus with a three-point autofocus system and a real-time electromagnetically driven shutter. Automatic film loading, advance, and rewind contribute to the ease of use of the Canon Sure Shot Z115. The camera does all the film transport for you and even automatically sets film speed. You can choose to rewind the film in midroll if you need to change film types before you have used every frame. Other features include a built-in retractable flash, red-eye reduction, date imprinting, and a self-timer. The Canon Sure Shot Z115 comes with a one-year warranty on parts and labor. I got my Z115 in August 1997 in preparation for a monthlong stay in Germany. The thought of lugging my old Minolta SR-T 101, a big and heavy 28-200 zoom, and a separate flash attachment really put me off. The Z115 proved to be a fine alternative, doing pretty much everything I needed it to do, and doing it easily and without much weight or bulk. I do not use the many settings the Z115 offers, I pretty much stick with the "Auto" mode. I do play with the various flash settings (always on, always off, etc.) I am frankly surprised (and disappointed) to hear of the reliability problems others have had. All I can say is that I have not had those problems with my use; the camera has worked flawlessly. It's now five years old and going strong. I will keep my fingers crossed that it stays that way.
