    From the Manufacturer
The new Minolta Zoom 160c Date employs powerful optics and state-of-the-art technology so that great pictures can be captured effortlessly. The Zoom 160c Date has a built-in, compact 4.3X (37.5mm to 160mm) power zoom lens. The 4.3X zoom range provides the flexibility to capture images of family and friends, and special places and events. Plus, the camera is equipped with fully automatic functions, providing that point-and-shoot ease you’d expect from a compact camera. Back To

    High-Quality 4.3X Aspheric Zoom Lens
The 37.5 - 160mm power zoom lens uses high-quality aspheric optics for crisp, clear pictures with high contrast. The 4.3X zoom range is ideal for a wide array of subjects including landscapes, groups, travel photos, snapshots, candids, close-ups, and even full-frame portraits. A convenient rocker switch makes it easy to adjust zoom position while composing the image in the viewfinder.

    Long Eye Relief Viewfinder
Conventional compact cameras pose a problem for photographers who wear glasses because the viewfinder does not have sufficient eye relief for viewing the full image. The Minolta Zoom 160c Date solves this problem with long eye relief of 19.2mm from the eyepiece, allowing the photographer to see the full viewfinder image even with glasses on.

    5-Point Autofocusing
Taking sharp pictures couldn’t be easier. The sophisticated 5-point AF system analyzes the objects in the focus frames to determine the subject distance. Using technology designed for the award-winning, top-of-the-line Minolta TC-1, this AF system prevents the camera from erroneously focusing on the background behind the subject and even allows pictures to be taken through windowpanes.

    Focus Lock
If you want to creatively position your main subject anywhere in the viewfinder frame, use focus lock to keep the subject sharp. Just place the autofocus zone on the main subject, press the shutter button partway down to lock the focus, recompose the picture as desired, then press the shutter-release button all the way down to take the picture.

    3-Segment Metering
To ensure the optimum subject exposure under a wide variety of lighting conditions, the Minolta Zoom 160c Date uses a 3-segment metering system consisting of one large and one small AE sensor to determine exposure, and an AF sensor for backlight detection only. The camera uses either the large or the small AE sensor depending on the zoom position. With this system, the brightness value in the center of the viewfinder (main subject area) is measured by the AF sensor and compared with the overall average brightness as measured by the AE sensor in use. If the background brightness greatly exceeds that of the subject area, the flash will fire in Autoflash or Autoflash w/Red-Eye Reduction modes to provide the optimum subject exposure.

    Film Chamber Lock
The Zoom 160c Date's secure film-chamber lock prevents the camera back from being accidentally opened and ruining the pictures that have already been taken.

    Versatile Multi-Mode Flash
The Zoom 160c Date's versatile flash modes let you shoot in a variety of lighting situations with confidence. In full auto mode, the flash fires automatically whenever it’s needed. If the main subject is backlit, you can select fill-flash for additional subject illumination. And if you’re out where flash use is not permitted or desirable, just press the flash-cancel button to turn it off.

    Night Portrait Flash
This mode is ideal for taking portraits with the subject(s) in the foreground of an illuminated night scene or a dramatic sunset. Night Portrait mode synchronizes the flash with a slow shutter speed to balance the flash illumination on the subject with the background ambient light.

    Landscape/Night View Mode
This easy setting ensures sharp photos of distant subjects or scenery, and is also ideal for capturing beautiful photographs of night scenes such as a city skyline. It sets the autofocus system to infinity, and cancels flash operation to capture the ambient light.

    Red-Eye Reduction
To reduce the unflattering red-eye effect common in photos taken with flash, a red-eye reduction lamp on the front of the camera glows to close down the subject’s pupils before the flash is fired.

    Single or Continuous-Frame Advance
The drive modes control how images are captured. Single-frame advance takes one picture at a time; continuous advance captures the action and keeps taking pictures while the shutter-release button is held down.

    Automatic Film Operation
Film operation is a breeze with the Zoom 160c Date. Simply open the camera back, position the film cartridge and leader, then close the camera back. It’s that simple. The camera automatically sets the DX-coded film speed (ISO 25 – 3200), threads the film to the first frame, advances the film after each shot, and rewinds the film when the roll is finished. The power rewind function can be activated at any time during the roll.

    Self-Timer
This convenient feature lets you set up the shot and be in the picture. The self-timer delays shutter-release for approximately 10 seconds after the shutter-release button has been pressed; countdown is indicated by a blinking lamp on the front of the camera. Self-timer operation is cancelable.

    Date/Time Imprinting
If you’ve ever had trouble remembering when a particular photograph was taken, you’ll appreciate this feature. The built-in Quartz Watches date back imprints the date or time right onto the photo, and is very useful for cataloging photographs and making photo records of important events. Data imprinting can be turned on or off as desired.

    Satin Aluminum Exterior
The Minolta Zoom 160c Date is designed to match the facets of your life. The satin finish on the aluminum exterior and the silver crescent-shaped accent on the grip exude formal elegance. The smooth contours and compact design makes the Zoom 160c a companion you can take everywhere.
