Lomo LC-A+ Harnessing the best features of the original Lomo LC-A, and rising above it with a host of new capabilities - the Lomo LC-A+ is simply the finest, most delightfully unexpected, robust, pocketable, vividly colorful, and soundly addictive snapshot camera of all time. First off, it's got the lighting-fast zone focusing and on-point automatic exposure of the original. Next, The Lomographic Society's Chinese factory has faithfully & lovingly duplicated the original Russian Minitar 1 32/2.8 lens - yielding the same radiant colors, the knockout contrast, the edge vignetting, the powerful multicoating, and the occasionally temperamental focusing of like the original. On top of that, it now offers a Multiple Exposure switch, expanded film ISO setting to 1600, and a cable release thread.+The Time Has ComeFor the past 12 years, our hearts, minds, and souls have been captive to the whims and demands of one tiny little camera: the Lomo LC-A. Who knew that this unassuming little metal amigo could serve up images incredible and charming enough to inspire the birth and constant expansion of an entire Society dedicated to spontaneous and hyper-creative photography? Yes, it was that good. The Lomo LC-A was our very best friend and the cornerstone of everything that the Lomographic Society stands upon. A little over a year ago, the production of the original Lomo came to an end, and we knew that it was up to us and the Community of Lomographers to invent a suitable replacement from the ground up. It was clear that this had to be a team effort. After all, most of the credit for the Lomo's enduring cult fame and innovative techniques goes to you - our Lomographic friends and colleagues - who worked tirelessly to tease the world's most compelling and impossible images out of this tiny black box. We harnessed the Lomographic Community's power by offering an online poll - detailing what the most important features of the Lomo were. In order, they were: 1. The Minitar 1 32.2.8 lens - and the colors & effects that it yields 2. Long exposures with and without a flash 3. Multiple and overlapping exposures 4. The LC-A's easily portable body and ease of use The path was set. Over one year later, Lomographic Society is absolutely thrilled to present the brand new Lomo LC-A+. It's designed as not only a replacement for - but a major improvement upon the original design. It's the LC-A+ a host of new features. The LC-A+ the input of thousands of Lomo experts. Essentially, it's the LC-A+ you! For new Lomographers, it provides the same images and effects that the original LC-A was so soundly adored for. For you old-school veterans, it offers a host of new features and technique possibilities within the body and lens that you're well versed in using. Lomo LC-A+ Features The Legendary Minitar 1 32/2.8 lens The single greatest attribute taken from the original Lomo LC-A design. This multi-coated little beauty is the reason for most of the Lomo?s magical & famous effects - including over-intense color saturation, sharp contrast, vignetting at the edges, occasionally selective focus, and a whole host of other quirks that only the Lomo?s analog wizardy can deliver. Like the original, this Minitar 1 is made exactly to Professor Radionov?s exacting specifications, and is hand-crafted with love and pride. The glass is multicoated to minimize internal reflections and maximize color and contrast. Its wide angle view captures a healthy chunk of everything in front of you and its bright f/2.8 maximum aperture lets all that natural, ambient light come streaming right in. The Minitar 1 lens is produced in two locations. The LC-A+ lens is made in China - at the same factory that produces the camera. The LC-A+ RL lens is produced at the original LOMO factory of St. Petersburg, Russia. Both lenses share identical specifications, and are capable of producing the same gorgeous, Lomo-style images. Automatic Exposure & Long Exposures Whether you?re a grizzled photographic veteran or a fresh-faced young babe, the Lomo is dead easy and simply pleasurable to shoot given its fine Auto Exposure. Merely aim the camera at your subject, and a small light meter on the top of the camera measures the outside light and serves up a shutter speed and aperture combo to match. This applies equally for indoor and night shots. Although flashes can be fun, they?re not always needed, as the LC-A+ will hold open its shutter for as long as required to get enough light onto the film - be it 10 seconds, 30 seconds, or two minutes! Multiple Exposure (MX) switch (NEW!) A jazzy new feature innovated for and integrated into the LC-A+. After taking a photo, merely slide the MX switch to re-cock the shutter and fire another time on the same frame. You can do this a limitless amount of times. This is useful for day or night-time shots - and allows you to superimpose one image on top of another. Cable Release /Thread Socket / Tripod Thread (NEW!) Long exposures are a treasured commodity by Lomographers - and one of the things that set them apart from the usual point n? shoot crowd. But an unsteady camera can lead to shaky, blurry pics. Sometimes that?s very cool - but other times, you?d rather have a sharp, shake-free shot. To that end, we?ve engineered a cable release thread into the LC-A+ and included a cable release with every package. Put your Lomo onto a tripod or balance it somewhere sturdy. Use the cable release to fire the shutter - as the mere action of pressing down on the shutter button with your finger can sometimes cause camera shake. Voila: a sharp n? lovely long exposure is yours! Expanded Manual ISO Setting (NEW!) The Lomo?s film speed settings range from 100 ISO to 1600 ISO - allowing you to use both hi-resolution and fine-grain slow film or super-speed and pretty gritty fast film. If you want to over-or under-expose your shots, just select a film speed above or below what you?re actually using. Zone Focus If you?ve ever used an autofocus camera - digital or analog - then you know about the d-e-l-a-y. You?ve got your camera at the ready, you point it at your subject - your subject does something absolutely amazing - but DAMN?you missed it and the camera fired a second too late. To fight this deadly killer of ?the decisive moment,? the Lomo?s zone focus allows you to select one of four focus points (0.8m, 1.5m, 3m, or infinity) and instantly fire with no pause, delay, beeping, or infrared beam. In most cases, your finger will be quick enough on the draw to focus before the shot, but you can always set the focus ahead of time and really never miss a beat. Second-curtain shutter & Flash Hotshoe Your LC-A+ has a little silver crown - into which a flash happily slides. Once inserted, your camera will fire the flash whenever the shutter is fired - day or night. Which brings us to the idea of ?second curtain shutter.? See, if it?s dark out, then your Lomo will want to shoot a long exposure of anywhere from ½ second to several seconds. When a flash is inserted, the Lomo opens the shutter as usual and starts to expose the film. The flash only fires when the shutter is released - either by the camera (because the exposure is complete) or by you (letting go of the shutter button). When a flash is synched to the end of an exposure, it?s called ?Second Curtain? and results in a crispy flashed subject against a streaming, gorgeous & ambient background. The LC-A+ is one of the only compact cameras ever made that utilizes this amazing feature. Handmade, Robust Construction Each Lomo LC-A+ is created with old-school love and care at the friendly Colibri Manufacturers workshop of China. Every part is meticulously crafted and assembled by hand - and the final functions are checked, re-checked, and checked another time for accuracy and reliability. This level of detailed personal craftsmanship is simply not offered for any other camera in this price range. Each camera is assembled of sturdy steel and high-impact plastic components to give it a solid weight and years of reliable service. Integrated Lens Blinds Nobody likes dirty or scratched lenses. But lens caps can be annoying - and those screw-on UV filters can sometimes flare or blur up your image. Good thing the LC-A+ has this whole issue sorted with its metal blind system. Just flick the switch to open the blinds and reveal your shining Mintar 1. Flick it again to close them and completely protect the lens from any nastiness. When the blinds are closed, the shutter release is locked - so no worries about any accidentally shot photos in your pocket! 2-Year International Warranty Your LC-A+ is not just a camera - it?s a constant and unyielding everyday companion. To ensure that your new best friend is always in top health, the Lomographic Society will guarantee it against any manufacturer defects for a full 2 years after you receive it.
