This tripod would be great to stabilize small point-and-shoot cameras, but it cannot hold my Canon SLR. As soon as I tightened everything up and let go of the camera, the camera started pointing down until it was straight down. No matter how tight I got it, it could not hold my camera up. Plus, the base that you screw into your camera is very small, so if your camera is heavy, it pops out of the tripod (Luckily I had my hands underneath when my camera fell off the tripod). So, if you have a heavy camera, steer clear. If you have a light camera, this tripod is perfect for on the go. It is super light, folds down to a very small size for a tripod, and has all the settings to get the shot you need. I chose to give it a 4 star rating because I got it as a gift, and now I notice it mentions in the description it has a 2.5 pound load capacity. I'm not quite sure I would put a 2.5 pound camera on it though - small point-and-shoot cameras will be perfectly fine. I need to get a more heavy-duty tripod, but if you have a small camera, I think this tripod is a good find.
