Okay so I bought this mainly because it was cheap and just needed something. I wasn't expecting that high of quality and this STILL let me down. It is really light, which is good, but the metal is thin and made of cheap plastic parts. The legs when fully extended are questionable and the bottom of the leg is about as wide as a pencil. This cannot withstand a lot of moving around or being hit, but if all you plan on doing is setting up a shot and not moving it, the tripod works beautifully. As cheap as it feels it still functions pretty well. It has a bubble level to make sure you have a level shot, can rotate 90 degrees for a portrait shot, and can even hold my Canon Rebel XS without me worrying too much. However, if I planned on taking this outside or around a large group that could knock into it I would not trust my camera being on it. I think it could handle a small point and shoot pretty easily though. So if you expect to be able to toss this around and it to take a beating then you'll need to look for a more expensive tripod. But if you want a light-duty, in-home, oh-crap-I-need-a-tripod-right-now kind of tripod then this one will work for you. I think mine will be retired into a desk tripod when I get a better one because without the legs extended it actually feels pretty solid. Also, the "case" that comes with it is just a thin, cheap bag. I actually thought I tore it the first time I put the tripod in it.
