The 0.43x Super Fisheye Adapter offers an extreme fisheye effect and a high degree of barrel distortion. It exaggerates depth by pulling nearby objects closer and causing distant objects to recede into the background. Advances in high-index / low-dispersion optical glasses, new barrel materials, and exotic anti-reflection coatings, along with the latest in computer-aided-design / computer-aided-manufacturing, are combined to produce lenses of unprecedented quality. Diamond-cut from crystal-clear, water-white optical glass, Opteka lenses are ground and polished to a precise precision. Because all Opteka lenses are designed and manufactured with the highest possible degree of consistency, you can swap lenses mid-shoot with no discernable variation in color or effect. Opteka lenses allow you to shoot with total confidence! I own a Canon VIXIA HF20 HD Dual Flash Memory with 32 GB Internal Memory and 15x Optical Zoom and I think it is a fantastic camera. However, I wished for a wider angle lens. Canon's offering, Canon WD-H37 II Wide Conversion Lens for 37mm Filter Diameter Optimized for HD Camcorders is too expensive: currently $198.37 on Amazon. So I tried the Opteka 0.43x HD² Full Fisheye Lens for 37mm Digital Camcorders -. It is a true fisheye, very useful when you need that kind of effect (with a lot of distortion and vignetting, which is inevitable). It also has a macro attachment for close-up shots. The drawback is the picture quality. It is OK when the camera's optical zoom is completely zoomed out. if you zoom in, the image gets completely blurred. I ended up buying another lens, the Sony VCLHA07A Wide Conversion Lens for Sony MiniDV & Hi8 Camcorders. It is also inexpensive, going for under $30, about the same price as the Opteka. However, its picture quality is excellent. There is little degradation, even if you zoom in. In fact, you can keep it always attached to the camera, so you get a wider angle than the normal lens, and great image quality in any situation. If you want a true fisheye lens and are willing to sacrifice optical quality, the Opteka 0.43x is a reasonable choice. If you need a not-so-wide lens (about 30% wider than the original with a 0.7x factor), the Sony lens is better.
