Very solidly built with precision machining, ready to use 2 minutes out of the box. I was happily surprised that the legs that are included are also solid metal. The only drawback so far is that there is a very soft (quiet), high-pitched noise as a result of the friction along the aluminum rails while in motion. If you're recording audio directly from the mounted camera (I'm using a T3i), it is loud enough to be picked up by the onboard mic. Not so much when using a directional mic (like the Rode shotgun). The faster you move the plate, the louder the sound. If you move VERY slowly the sound is greatly minimized. With that said, it's perfectly stable and provides a smooth, clean, lateral shot. All in all, a fantastic addition to the independent filmmaker toolbox on a budget. Highly recommended.
