They have great feathers such as tile and shift, and great macro capability. The Fotodiox Pro 4x5 adapter replaces the film board via standard graflok. It turns the field camera into a true digital camera. It can be easily stitched in PS to become a true medium - large format images. Using Full frame camera, you will achive a 43x88mm image in horizental position, or 55x68mm image in vertical position. Using APS senser, you will achive 45x55mm imgae size. First of all - i do own wee bit different version of it, one that accepts M645 backs. Its got one more weak point than this one. Secondly - you basically buying machined piece of metal. Be warned - there is no magic about it. Its a bit of metal. It slides left and right so you basically getting center-based crop of 4x5 image. If you happen to own FF body - it will be as if you put 35mm roll on the center portion of your 4x5 negative. If you got cropped body - even smaller, for obvious reason. You will have to do focusing IN camera (so you may consider buying on of those chips for like 20$ to glue on this adapter - and presto - you got AF confirmation.. why Fotodiox didnt do it for you? no clue) . Your film plane is way off now from your ground glass (or you can fiddle with your rangefinder of course, if you got one). If you do use old Graphic camera with Graflok - you fine. If you do use anything that is machined to less tolerance (like Linhof) - you will need to get dremel or file and some patience, b/c Fotodiox didnt bother to measure these guys to actual thickness and they are about 1-2mm thicker so your graflok locks will not be able to slide in place and hold it. If you hope for any kind of support from Fotodiox - forget it. They do not answer emails unless its full moon and unicorns are wild (i sent them quite a number of questions and only one that got answered in three months was about misleading advertising bit where they claimed it was working with ZD back, where it wasnt - that got attention right away). If you thinking about buying one that accepts backs (as i did) - be warned that they do not supply you with dark slide of any sort to block light from focusing screen, so its impossible to use it in last third of frame. Also it will come to you as (riddle me this) horizontal frame. So you getting 4.5 instead of 6. You can rotate it by yourself if you got wee screwdriver, but you will loose ability to use tenson lock (that silver bit that holds sliding plate in place - you can see it in photograph of the product. Other than that - hey.. its a back for your 4x5 so if you need quick way to check some lens or exposure - its not a bad tool. Of course it costs you.
