It allows me to connect my 10-year-old Olympus D-510 Zoom digital camera directly to my MacBook Pro. When I lost the original CB-USB1 cable, I looked high and low, but could not find a replacement. I had to use a card reader with my old PowerBook running Mac OS 9. Then I had to use a thumb drive to transfer the photos from my old PowerBook to my new MacBook Pro. It was all because the card reader software was not compatible with Mac OS X. What a hassle! It took forever!
